Welcome in to GT,Our new addition to the Oasis of Norwood,Baby Yucca. I got her from my sons Mother plant Wed morning. Going to put her in a small pot for now and hope she roots well for winter. Do you think I should protect her from cold the 1st time or not...Any other great advice...GIVE IT TO ME BUDDIES!😯😮😊😉 #stemcutting #yucca #asparagaceae #coldhardy to 5°C #creamywhiteflowers #tropical #tree #shrub
@blueheart @angipangi @terrimac58 Helllpp!😰 I'm sweating it for a idea...lol!
You can use agriculture fabric to protect your plants from frost or the winter in general
@sky yes I knew that u can use Burlap to cover them. I use it on our palm and a few others. I was just wondering with this Yucca with it not having a Good rooting before first sign of cold weather and it being in a pot,whether to allow him to stay outside to play😊😀
@Acetaker myself being a beginner, I don't take chances. Tote them in for the winter when the first frost warning is issued. Luckily I have a spare room with lots of Windows!
@terrimac58 Yeah,I have a spare(junk)rm too. I believe it catches everything each season..lol!😁😂 I was thinking the same thing but,wanted to be sure with this one,since I've seen it live through almost anything in Bama. But,u don't know what they've done to help it live and I don't know if they started with a unrooted one too...😯 TY!! 😀 For your help,Lady! Oh, have gotten your seeds? Hoped maybe they got there sooner..lol!😉
@Acetaker actually I've read that yucca can withstand to 5 degrees. I know because my yucca is NOT a yucca. Whatever it is, it's now much shorter 👀
You didn't need to ask this question you answered it yourself with common sense. A young newly rooted plant is always more vulnerable and it hasn't got time now to build itself up to fight off the winter cold so answer give it shelter for it's 1st winter then by next year it will have built up enough resources to survive. Yucca wouldn't survive any winter here because we get frost fairly frequently. See you're a pretty nifty gardener already 😉😀😂
My #yucca #cutting has rooted and grown so much just over this season. It has the right touch(no punt intended😏..hehe)for the Tropical Garden.🌴🌵🌸🌺
