@gjones it slowed them down a lot moving them from water to soil but they're bouncing back well

Growth update. I switched them over to soil instead of water which slowed their growth down but I just couldn't get a good setup where the plantlett leaves weren't touching the water

When you root in water plant has to grow new set for soil. Best to start in soil. @Alcurtis93

Very true @moore.794 I just find they root faster and with more vigor in water. Ideally I'd have kept them in it but I didn't want the leaves to rot :(

I've seen people poke holes through plastic wrap and tuck the roots through them to dangle in the water, but the leaves remain dry

Yes that would work well @mintyiguana :) They're growing well in soil now though so I'm happy to keep them in it :)

And I'd be the second! Can I ask what this propagation method is? In the previous post you said water propagation but can you describe how you're going about doing it? Been wanting to experiment with some of my props. I have wayyy too many sorrento leaves that all seem to be willing to put out pups haha.

Hi @levalar it's just simply a case of letting the end callous over and letting them growing roots into the water. Ideally you want the leaf to sit above the waterline so the developing plant baby doesn't have to sit in water. You'll be amazed at the speed they grow. You can also just take any succulent, wash ALL the soil from the roots and place them in watet and within a few days you'll see white water roots appear. I change the water every week or two so no toxicity or O2 loss.

@marlynroses was my inspiration for this. She does it a lot

@levalar you ideally want to keep the roots dark too which I'm not doing a great job at but I'm keeping the plants out of direct sun and they seem okay. You can grow in full sun with water but you'll need some method of covering the roots. I really only do this for propagation as they seem to root so much faster than in soil and they grow fast!

These are growing too fast! In about a week they've gone from having nothing to this. Water propagating definitely seems to work best for me

Wow, I didn't know water propagation was a thing. I'll have to try this!
