When I'm not on my bike, you'll find me in my organic-ish garden in #Cumbria. Favourite plants? Wisteria, hellebores, peonies, philadelphus...

This has to be my favourite #self-seeded plant in one of the most #unexpectedplaces It is in a gap between paving and my coldframes in #Cumbria not Corsica 😉🤷‍♀️

If the photo showed the bottom you would see that it is actually growing horizontally then takes a 90 degree bend upwards. #thejoysofcropping 😉😂 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

😂😂😂 II’m flattered! I must have bought this once. It now pops up in the most unexpected places so why not try it from seed? It likes dry places like the bottom of walls and cracks in the paving 👍 @pelly

15 March 2018 • If you’re happy to have #selfseeds then this #hellebore is fab! Pops up in the oddest places - including the tiny strip of gravel in front of the greenhouse 💚

@columbiariver I have sprinkled seeds from mine over the ground (under my trees where most of my hellebores are already) but I find I get better propagation from sowing them in seed trays

I haven't ever collected seed, I have just deadheaded these ones and must have left them lying around #untidygardener The Corsican hellebores seem to pop up where it is sunny & the soil is free draining whereas the Lenten hellebores appear in shade @Hellebore @columbiariver

Oooooo! Helleborus argutifolius looking leaves (any pink on stems?) but will be interesting to see what the flowers look like - I'm assuming no sign this year! Possibly next but could take 4 or 5 yrs!

This is another example of the benefits of not being too tidy, as it has appeared in the gravel in front of the cold frame. A little hellebore for @Hellebore

I hate to say this but I'm not convinced this is a holy leafed hellebore. I'm going to put up a pic shortly of one of my baby's I've grown myself from cultivating seeds in my garden. The leaves normally come in threes. What do you think Aaron @tiggrx?

9w

awomanonabike

Don't hate to say it! I'll get a photo of what I think is its parent. I may well have got it wrong & happy to be corrected. Always lots to learn

@Hellebore it looks like a young Hellebore to me. I think as the plant matures it will produce more normal trifoliate leaves.

9w

Ok @tiggrx just my babies already have trifoliated leaves as their first set of true leaves. Keep me updated with new pics as it grows @awomanonabike 😄
