Orange poinsettias? 🤨 I've never seen such a thing. Help me out here, peeps, these MUST be dyed, right? Cream poinsettias watered with orange dye?
emch
Probably. Do they have glitter on them too? :)
beatnikcrab
@emch nope, no glitter or anything that screams unnatural, besides the color. The centers looked a tad crusty, so I thought maybe the color was sprayed on in places, but it isn't. I should have taken a closer look at the green leaves, but didn't think of it. Looking at the photos now the green leaves look suspect.
yogi2
Love them.
emch
They few green leaves look distinctly jaundiced

Wow, I went back to the same store just two days later and they only had one left! 😳 I guess people liked them!
Closeup! I actually kind of love them..? Idk, mixed feels! I normally shy away from unnaturally modified plants.
Wow, that time of year again
@beatnikcrab u should had gotten one
"Autumn Leaves" poinsettias are a rich yellow with red or pink flecks. These are the color of a deep-pile shag carpet, circa 1974. Definitely dyed.
Ugh. Artificially painted... personally a pet peeve of mine.
I had that awful shag carpet lol @emch 🙄
We all did, @hkyfvr 🤫
Thank you, everyone! @cyndi wow, thank you for the links! I spent WAY too long ogling all the varieties. 🤣 I LOOOOOVE all the orange ones, but these are definitely not natural, and I agree with @KariSamuel I really can't get on board with artificially colored plants. @angiie I looked up photos of 'Autumn Leaves' and I ADORE IT, but this definitely isn't it. 😅 'Autumn Leaves': 10/10, would buy. @emch I grew up on one of those shag carpets, so I def know what you mean. Now I can't un-see it! 😂
@cyndi I figured that's how they did it. That's an awesome a teaching tool, but idk if I could be proud to showcase it as a specimen plant. 😬 I've had to explain to too many people that their neon orchids are turning white bc they are not, in fact, naturally that color. 😂
@beatnikcrab in truth, one look at this plant made me flash back to the lining of the elevator in THE TOWERING INFERNO.
@emch wow that's a blast from the past for sure! My memory is super hazy, but weren't the elevators in that basically glass birdcages? I don't remember what their lining might have looked like, except maybe FLAMES OF DEATH. 😆 Which these poinsettias, granted, are also very reminiscent of. 🤣
There were the glass cages on the outside of the building but also inside ones with this undulating-waves-patterned, screaming-orange carpet up the walls that would have had me screaming to get out as soon as the doors closed.
