Still the most watched yew then 🙂 we’re there drainage holes in the pot? Apologies if I asked this before ..

7w

davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co

Ive cut the pot away sam, so there shouldnt be a problem with drainage. Hopefully. @icedance

That’s great ! I’m sure it will be okay now, just needs a bit of time to spread it’s finer feeding roots and it will be off and away for sure

fast changing temps., wet feet, or salt injury. carefully prun out brown to next bud. @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co

7w

davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co

Thanks terry. Im keeping a close eye on it. I left it in the pot when planting it, as we may be moving in a year or two, would this effect it @moore.794

7w
comment
moore.794

possibly. may need to up a size if getting root bound @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co

7w
comment
davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co

@moore.794 ive just been reading about salt damage terry. We are located right on a roundabout which is gritted when icy so could well be the problem . May need to find a new place for it 🤔

7w
comment
pauline33

Hi Dave I agree with Terry could be any of the above 😉mine don’t mind the wet at all but the temperatures certainly burn the tips personally I don’t worry about that but I resist any pruning till June or at least the end of May for frost damage 🙄 definitely a good time of year to check on the roots though may have been in the same pot for a long time tease out the roots n pot up a size bigger 😉

Hi dave sorry for late response was at work today, in fact tried to take a pic for you of one of our yews which is now a stunning shade of brown ! They are prone to do this when stressed you’ll often see this if on heavy clay and get too wet, the one at work is large and has been with us too long, it is in too small a pot now and can’t take up nutrients or water well enough, hoping some one takes pity and rescues it soon ⬇️

7w
comment
icedance

I do think yours being in a pot in the ground might be to blame .. bit like locking a child in a sweet shop and saying do not eat any sweets 😂 it’s possibly hit the sides and is starting to stress ? I’d do as Pauline says and get into something bigger with a nice dose of John innes no 3, I wish it well 🙂

7w

davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co

@icedance thanks for getting back to me sam. I was hoping it would be ok in the pot it was in. It took three of us to lift it . Ill have to find a bigger pot and sign up to the gym again 💪
