Papaver somniferum

Help me identify this plant - I know it is a poppy but not sure what type as I did not plant it.

Hi Debra, it's a variety of Papaver somniferum. Looks lovely!

They self sow all over. Just pull up the ones you don't want.

Thanks @richard.spicer.7906 I happen to love poppies so I was very happy to see them show up in my garden. Plan on saving the seeds.

Thanks for that advice @joanboston A friend at the allotment had given me the same advice. They are lovely but I don't want them interfering with the plants that are already there.
