Hosta 'Wide Brim'

Hostas planted wonder if they will still be there in the morning or will the midnight slippery slugs have eaten them 😳 😬 🙈

Wonderful, I’ve just dug mine up for that reason, they are ruined already!Thought I’d get them going again in a pot and then decide if they remain potted this year as I have a slug army in my garden.

I use blue pellets. Apologies if that offends anyone

Hi Carol @kirkc99 I'm thinking tge same as you didn't realise how much they are lovely by slugs, and snails.. I bought three but decided to risk only two for now.. I haven't really seen many slugs in our garden as yet hoping my plants will still be there in the morning 😳

@joanboston I was planning on putting some beer / larger/corona out for them didn't get round to it... See if I have any plants left in the morning.. Will find an alternative plant if they get eaten 😬

@joanboston I use slug pellets too as there aren't any birds in my garden that might end up eating the slugs/snails. I think my neighbour's cats are scaring birds away.

They will be fine but if the slugs come either put some pellets down or sharp grit around them, they hate to scratch their bellies! I hate them. Your alternative is to go out at night and collect them up in a bucket as the “ slug buster “ that helps a lot.

Thanks Carol.. Grit sounds good.. Though they didn't get touched last night.. Early days I know.. The slugs haven't found them yet.. I did also find some slug pellets in my shed so I sprinkled a few around just to deter.. Probably out of date and won't work anyway lol @kirkc99 thanks tho 😊
