Covered in aphids I've washed it I've cut the ends off I've even sprayed it.. Used washing up liquid.. Jet washed it 😳😂used aphid spray at a last resort.. Nothing is stopping these creatures.. Had these last year also mmm need to plan something for next year maybe I cut it right back.. Or are they in the branches? Because I can't get rid.. just all have to live in harmony? 😢 😡 😔
Diane @Diane76 posted a great tip yesterday, she uses mouthwash , it has to be one with alcohol in it 👍👍
My sambucca is full of them too they seem to love the new shoots I got them off with tissue n soapy water, so far so good but no doubt they will be back I saw Di's tip n going to try that too!
Thanks Jane @pelly @keely Keely Will give that a try maybe next year I'm giving up this year. They are all having a great time inside the flower balls which makes it a bit more difficult to reach them.. Don't fancy a toothbrush n mouth wash don't want to cause them pain 😱 will cut it back once the flowers have finished 🙈
Not all insecticides protect against blackfly so need to read the label.
More an infestation they are here now and not budging but will plan ahead next year and find an appropriate spray and spray prior to it budding 👍 @ublaszko
All you do is 1 part mouth wash to 2 parts water and just spray it on @Di007 nothing else needed it kills them and is Bee friendly. The rain will then wash the remains off. @pelly
Will try this @Diane76 thank you 😊 oh yeah forgot I could spray it on 😂 🙈

These look like hearts 💕 #viburnum #pompom #whiteflowers
Love this 😍😍
Lovely 😊
@pelly @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom I keep getting thousands of aphids on this thick black I didn't want to spray them so I cut some of the ends off.. And sprayed some with the hose pipe but still never seen so many on one plant.. Not on any of the others just this one 🤔
Try water with washing up liquid, a bit thicker than you would normally use it 👍👍
Will give that a try thanks Jane @pelly 😊
I have black aphids too- I pinched off those ends without flowers
I hope it works for you 😃😃
@sharonhayden I I did cut some of the ends off as the leaves start curling but some of the flowers have loads under them.. Do u think they stunt growth?
@Di007 I know nothing about flowers really! Not noticed it before - don’t think so though co mine is 4-5ft tall- I did cut it back hard last year- haven’t noticed under flowers- it’s my favourite plant at the moment- so hope aphids don’t have a lasting effect!

It is lovely @sieveheadsarah I gave it a little prune end of last year just to shape it a bit.. Looks a bit more compact now 😊

These will be gorgeous white pom poms soon 😀
Omgoodness you should see how many aphids are on my snowball bush.. 🙈🙊 #wildlifewednesday
😱😱😱
Will you cut it down- or do you leave it to grow- as I’ve been pinching tips with black fly on them?
@sharonhayden I will cut it back.. But since I heard monty say the garden needs some insects has a knock on if you try to remove them all so I'm leaving these for a bit longer I've seen the ants and other insects eating them.. 🙊 If they are all there they are not on my flowers.. Wishful thinking or.. Blonde logic 😂 😂
Well I will leave mine too then!
I’ve had so many in my garden. I had to cut my cherry tree back as it was totally covered. I do have an another shrub and I left that and now it’s covered in ladybird larvae which are eating them so they are being kept under control naturally.
Yes @pixierose that's what is also eating the aphids here which has to be a good thing 😊 @sharonhayden
