😕 my desert rose in "plant ICU" again. The new one. 😕 Lost a leaf and checked the base - rot again. Not my fault this time. Hopefully I can revive it. #desertrose

@latebloomer - have you had any luck doing this?

Oh dear... 😕😕😕 Hope the #TLC works... Deb's offline at present with study and holidays, so send her an email. #desertrose #adenium #advice-adenium #rot

This is your new plant?? Take it back for an exchange/refund.

Didn't think about that. Went back to see if there were more but all sold. Will remember for next time.

@diannezchilds how does hanging help? I've never seen it done :)

@Pushkraj I've cut the rot out and hanging it for 5 days to allow the raw edge to dry before repotting. Melbourne is cold (14 degrees celcius today) and wet this time of year. Was recommended by an adenium forum - a grower living in Netherlands.

Interesting way to deal with rot, for future reference!

Are these stems healthy? Bottom one isn't. I've cut the rot off. How do I manage the cuttings? @latebloomer

@latebloomer Thanks. Will do that. 😊

#cuttings #hormonepowder #honey works to promote growth too!!

@latebloomer 😢 original desert rose rotten through. Will try to save stems. @brightcolours @kathyb @sue1953

@diannezchilds Oh I am so sorry to see 😢 xxxx

@kathyb I'm really sad. I thought it was doing so well. But on the plus side - hopefully I'll get 3 new plants if the cuttings take, and .... @latebloomer is sending me some seeds, and ... I found a new one at Bunnings today. 😊 better luck with the new plants. I'll know more this time around.

@diannezchilds try try again!!! 😀

Good luck with the cuttings. Gardening is always giving us challenges. 🌸😀

Will do. Here's hoping. 😊 @latebloomer

@latebloomer Newport Melbourne

@latebloomer Yes please. I'd love to try grow more. I've been online and I think has happened because I watered and then went on holiday. House temps daytime 11. Sheltered window not much light. Cold and wet feet. Poor plant.

@latebloomer Would cactus soil mix be ok? Should I add extra sand?

Sent you an email @latebloomer 😊

Emergency care for my adenium. Repotting shows healthy roots but discolouration on caudex. @latebloomer @brightcolours @kathyb @sue1953 Your thoughts? How do i add extra pics to the same post?

#advice #adenium #desertrose #repotting

take cuttings? how soft is it?

I think you have added extra pics to your original post as I can see them all from when the plant was healthy.

I would repot in new potting mixture.

It is as soft as a just ripe avocado???

#advice #help #dyingplant Help please. I'm going to lose my desert rose. Melbourne winter Indoors since May temps 15/11. Watering 1x per month (once June, once July, good half hour soaking) Has filtered window light (???? Too little????) Indoor temps 18-20 during day, 14 overnight with ducted heating.

@latebloomer @brightcolours #advice please help me. Thanks.

Trunk has gone soft. May be rotting????

@Sue1953 @kathyb Help it's getting worse. Trunk is soft. What can I do?

Do you think it might be going dormant for the winter?

Any of these help? http://www.tropicanursery.com/adenium/problems.htm

The link Kathy posted is very comprehensive. Sounds pretty bad for your Adenium... 😕😕😕 @kathyb

@diannezchilds I've asked a non GT expert and will let you know but I'd say there's a good chance it's just going dormant from being cold. How soft is the trunk?

I'd also put it somewhere with more light. The websites mostly say high light requirements.https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://lee.ifas.ufl.edu/Hort/GardenPubsAZ/Dessert_Rose_Adenium_obesum.pdf&ved=0ahUKEwiK-sC255XOAhUMJZQKHdbpDcA4FBAWCBkwAA&usg=AFQjCNEWDkTooM3On88TPhfnndQOtLggsw&sig2=R8LpDWIE5uae9M_7Gr_qhw

I would follow @KathyB advice It needs to get into a warmer position With less watering until it comes out of its dormant stage.

@latebloomer if you want another one look out at BigW. they often have them for around $5!!!

Oh no @latebloomer 😕 is it worth trying to repot? Will move it back to side window. Gets bright morning sun but also near the central heater draft.

Hoping that this is the seasonal leaf drop. #deciduous #desertrose

Does not look happy.

Maybe too much water?

It was watered 2/7 and before that

I keep making mistakes worth my comments. Grrrr 😠

It may be to much water. This is my first year of having one. I waters it 2/7 and before that was beginning of June. Living inside at moment due to Melbourne winter.

@diannezchilds It might have gotten too cold. They are pretty temperature sensitive. They are al pretty tough so should come back (I'm assuming it won't get frosted inside!) 😃

@kathyb 😊 hope so. Thanks.
