#gyo #allotment potatoes are growing on nicely. Bit of rain this week would be most welcome after the nice sunny weekend though!
Looking amazing
I think I may have planted too many potatoes! Two 5m rows for each of 1st Early (pentland javelin) + 2nd Early (Charlotte) + Main Crop (Albert Bartley rooster & Blue Danube). Plus the experimental no dig potatoes in straw bed, plus a couple of potato grow bags! Hopefully the extended family will welcome a sack or two of them! (Either that or I'll have some very big fat slugs!)

Some potatoes breaking ground... However these are not the ones I planted this year! No sign of them yet :-(. #allotment #gyo

A bit of an #allotment experiment with some spare seed #potatoes. #NoDig method! Hoe'd some spare ground then placed the potatoes on the surface, covered each with a handful of manure, then covered with a few inches of straw and grass clippings. Finally some freeze to hold the straw down while it settles. When the shoots start to show the fleece will be removed, more straw can be added as they grow (this is all theoretical, anyone else tried it?)
#experiment #fleece
#gyo
Will be interesting to see the results.

About 2 weeks later than last year... But the #potatoes are now in the ground. Earlies = Pentland Javelin; 2nd earlies = Charlotte; Mains = Albert Bartley rooster & Blue Danube. #gyo, #allotment
Ooh flowers appearing on the early #gyo spuds. Nearly time to harvest some new potatoes 👏 #allotment
