At our house we can tell how cold it is by the leaves on the #rhododendron Right now it’s 12 degrees Fahrenheit. I will take another picture later in the day when we get above freezing to show the difference.

Healthy #azalia or #rhododendron?

Ok I don't think it's Plumeria as it shouldn't really grow here and the leaves have lines in those images 🤔

@columbiariver Wow! Thanks! It looks much different from the other #rododendron that I have. Another variety perhaps.

Thanks guys! @cyndi @columbiariver I did some research and now I'm more confused, lol. So Azaleas are Rhododendron? Hmm, there are several varieties. I was looking for one that blooms late summer because I don't think it's had flowers yet or if it did it was unimpressive. But it's right outside of our kitchen so I'm sure I would have seen it.

Azaleas have been reclassified and are now in the genus Rhododendron. There are no clear cut lines for distinguishing all azaleas from all rhododendrons but here are a few characteristics to look for. True rhododendrons have 10 or more stamens which is 2 per lobe. Azaleas usually have 5 stamens or 1 per lobe. ~ says Google
