Some of the lupins in the tyre miraculously survived the winter so hopefully we will have some flowers this year

We didn't get any flowers off this last year but the ones which survived have nice fat woody stems and if you can survive a year round here then everything to play for.

@Naomi126 South Derbyshire but I meant on our site project specifically ha ha. I'm getting into the permaculture thing, meaning that if it don't grow here it don't grow here - it's quite a revelation tbh - many of the flowers I planted last year just didn't do much tbh so I am happy that some made it thru winter. I know the feeling! I try and go for hardy plants where possible to be honest. We've had a fairly mild one this year though. Having said that my lupins always come through. 😃

Gosh the slugs have been at my lupins! Gonna have to set some prickly sticks round the tyre. Damn. Who knew? Do they eat everything except onions and potatoes or what ???

Think the lupins have grown about an inch in a week since the re - potting. Can't wait until we see some flowers.

I had to run and hide yesterday. Ugh! We had snow, hail, freezing cold winds. Isn't it May next week! ?! We are quite hardy at the site, but we can't afford the chimney pipe for the stove yet and I'm afraid common sense won out. Still, the lupins seem to have made it through the day Check us out https://facebook.com/theilsonrootsproject
