The unexpected Echium is flowering! A somewhat precarious attempt to measure it puts the flower spike at over 13 feet (me at 5'6" for reference!). The bees absolutely love it and it's been shedding blossom all over the garden and blowing flowers in the windows ☺️ #urbangardening #echium #beefriendly #southcoast

An unexpected Echium in my south coast garden. The parent's flower spike grew to about 10 feet last summer and scattered seeds EVERYWHERE before I realised. Flowers were a pretty purple-blue, but I don't know the variety.
The Echium finally finished flowering and had to come down yesterday. Official height 4.2m/ 13.7ft! #echium #urbangardening #southcoast
