@jennlamaye . This file is is impressive😍
I like this leaf, glad I caught it before the frost! It’s kinda like the wasabi variety with a bit of color. Wish I knew the name... but I’m intent on keeping it alive over winter. @cyndi @columbiariver @kimguy
@cyndi if all goes well, I should end up with lots of cuttings and plants because I have to keep them trimmed to stay under lights. But last year I lost a ton to dampening off and I can tell white fly is going to be a major battle. I don’t know if they hurt the plant, but I’ve been spraying like crazy and it’s not helping.
@cyndi checked out the store. Baaaaaad! Lol. Went from researching to wish listing. 😉
@columbiariver it’s interesting the color changes in one variety dependent on the light received. Sometimes I think I have two different coleuses, but it’s just the difference of shade and full sun. If half of them make it through the winter I’ll be happy!
Desperately trying to keep a few of these cuttings of coleus alive through the winter. I keep chopping them off the main plant because so many are not doing well in soil. 😞
My grandad used to take coleus cuttings and let them hang in just water (in old milk bottles) on the kitchen windowsill till they grew roots. Have you tried that method at all?
@richard.spicer.7906 that’s how they were all started, and I reluctantly transfer them when they are super well established. But then I start losing them to rot. They do well in water. Not sure why they don’t do well being transferred. And they prefer being under the grow lights but I ran out of space. Starting some from seeds right now to hedge my bets. 😉
Oh that’s a shame 😕 - What soil mix are you using? I must admits I can’t remember what he used to do with them after getting them started in water. Fingers crossed they pull through for you 🤞🏼
@richard.spicer.7906 I tend to buy what’s on sale 😳 Sometimes it’s good... I’m still on the learning side, so it’ll be okay. I’m going to have to figure out how I’m going to rotate plants under the lights come March. I have plenty to keep me busy, and whatever makes it will make me happy. 😉
@ShelleySnyder this is how vibrant the red gets under the lights!
Very nice Jenn!💘😍
