#foliagefriday, definitely a foliage plant this year as no sign at all of any lilies this year?

I have one that looks identical to yours, Joan! No sign of lilies either 😢😢

The first time this has happened, perhaps they need splitting , I have no idea when is the best time to do that?Do you know Barbara? @jacaranda

So sad. I split mine when I start them into growth in the spring.

I’ve never tried splitting mine, Joan, but I believe the best time is early spring before they begin to put in new growth. 🤞

Mine have much smaller flowers this year Joan 🫤

I think it must have been the cold spring that has stunted them. I overwinter mine in the unheated greenhouse @jacaranda @juliesgarden

Mine are the same although the red one which was a new to me bulb this year has the start of a flower so don’t give up hope yet

Oh I always leave mine out over winter Joan, they always regrow, I’ll take a pic and pop it up 👍🏼

@richard.spicer.7906 not bad? I took nine babies out of the pot in spring and repotted the main bulb in fresh compost. My burgundy one is just growing a flower spike

Lovely! For some strange reason my bicolour has only ever produced one baby bulb in five years 🤔 I’ve had to get the rest from cuttings. Good to hear the burgundy one is finally got a bud for you. Still waiting for mine 😆🙄 fingers crossed this will be the year

Omg - I never even thought of seed 🤦🏼‍♂️ I keep cutting the faded flowers off! Think I’ll collect some seed this year! Although not sure what result will be as all these are grouped together, might get some interesting hybrids 😄

I have a calla lily (I know its very different!) but my neighbour is HIGHLY agitated that I will kill her cats with it!! :( I DID "google it" as she strongly suggested and ...sighs...I love my new 'lily'!!x
