Geoff and I moved to our present house in December 2013. Starting from scratch it's been a huge challenge but we love it. joanboston357@gmail.com

Well here we have it! My one and only flower from five very healthy tall plants. Don’t think I’ll bother next year #octoberblooms

Such a shame - Monty Don was complaining about his which had grown to about 10 ft and were mostly leaves.

Ines had a few flowers Joanne but only one plant from 5 plants same as you 😕

I grew them for the first time a couple of years ago and they did well. Last year they were poor and this year none of the seeds germinated. 😢😢

I was somewhat comforted when Monty said on Friday night that he hadn’t had many flowers on his tithonia. This one is five feet tall but not a flower in sight! I have four plants, all very healthy but I can’t see any real sign of flowers 🤷🤔

Mine were like yours last year so I didn’t bother growing them this year! They seem to be very hit and miss 😢

They do seem to be temperamental, I have several all from the same batch from seed and one is flowering whereas all the others are just greenery. You certainly need a lot of patience with them @joanboston @allhop74 @jacaranda 🧡

This is the largest of our tithonia, do you suppose it might flower before the first frost? It’s about two foot six

I planted a couple of tithonia, with some protection from slugs and birds. Looking ok so will remove it soon and plant out some more 🤞🤞

I love these too Joan. I’ve had a strange gardening year so ended up putting nearly all of mine in one large pot 😬 It will be interesting to see what they end up like… 😂

Geoff had just pulled up an eight foot one in the back garden Elaine! All plant and hardly any flowers. This one is four foot and has spread out nicely and flowered all summer. Same packet of seed @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

A flower from our third plant. Hard to photograph as it’s very sprawling but happy. Five flowers on this one, in the front garden

These are two of our tithonia. The left one is over five feet tall and has only had two flowers but has lots of buds to come. The right one is three feet tall and has had several fliers with more to come Jacqueline @awomanonabike

Wow, they're way bigger than mine. I had to put mine in the greenhouse too early as I ran out of room inside so it slowed them down. They'd better get a wiggle on now, I'll have a word with them 😂

Around March time Jane, I find the success rate quite poor but worth it , you don’t need many plants as they can get huge @pelly
