Second flush of flowers

I have one of these hope to get a second flowering

This the first year for my clematis do i have to cut it back wen its finished for this year or do i just leave it ? X

All the care instructions are under the president in encyclopedia

It should be pruned in late winter/early spring and again when the forst flowers have finished

Pruned right back or howmuch ? X

New plants should be cut back hard In late winter/early spring to strong buds above a leaf joint to approx to 1 foot, this makes it produce more stems. Unlless yours already has 3/4. After that it should be done to remove any spindly stems, healthy ones should be cut back to the first pair of buds from the top, after first flowers fade in the second year and after cut back a few stems or shops to a pair of healtjy buds to get a second flush. Dont prune heavily or you may not get any flowers
