@pelly I know Jane im just leaving annual lupins n couple of Dahlia's in for late colour just been out in dark n cut cosmos and lavatera out waiting for daylight to dig roots out 👍 gardening in pitch black is no good n it is still blinking windy n wet! 😣
I'm not that brave as to go out gardening in the dark Keely😨 but am just out for a ciggy and I'm sure the wind has got worse again, no rain forecast here though. 😕😕😕

Morning Peeps 3am and woken by the police walking down alley guess the burglars are around again as they have been down every garden patrolling with torches I'm such a light sleeper their footsteps woke me so coffee in bed can't see me nodding back off again, good to see their presence about hope they catch the pesky thief's 😣🙁😴
Woh! ...I'm always awake at this time...but I get back to sleep for another couple hours eventually!...enjoy your coffee!
@belindah its normal for me about 3.20 so a bit earlier due to echo of feet waking me hope to nod back off but if thief's are about it preys on yr mind 😯
I just love these blooms. Sorry about your lack of sleep. I understand, my sleep is all messed up. Got very little for many months then last week I was in the hospital and fell asleep in the ER and slept the entire 2 & 1/2 days I was there and for 5 & 1/2 days since I got home, was in bed sleeping a lot. Got up last night at 10 and have been up since. It is almost midnight the next evening and no sleep in sight. Glad coffee comforts and wakes you up. l hate it. Hope no one gets robbed.🤗

@hayleyaj I have hun these are last years tubers starting to take some up early that arent doing well otherwise wont get time in autumn least they can dry out and get boxed and stored took a couple up last wknd too 😊
@tay.nic they will be stored for next year Taylor they havent done as well this year as some were storm damaged earlier in the season which didn't help 😣
Sometimes that happens when they are too crowded or planted too deep. Hopefully they'll perform better for you next year 😍

@hayleyaj these were ones that got shredded by hailstone they never really recovered and I overfed it early on as tried to pull it back so too much foliage in end not to worry it will give me space on front patio for all wallflowers I've potted on now 😆
Ah! Yes! That's makes sense. I get my FIL to make me 2 feeds from his allotment, comfrey and nettles. I start with nettles then go to comfrey to promote flowers and fruit. Xx

This white tombola dahlia is not giving up no way soon nearly all cacti ones have done now but this is full of bud 😍
If the frost stays away, they'll keep going til Xmas 😉
@jeatacake I know but its in very soggy border so it will have to come up as tuber will rot under hedge border so will keep it going a while yet as getting cut flowers from it for house now so it will reduce gradually 😁
I have that problem with mine in my heavy clay soil. I'll give them until about the end of October if they're looking rough by then & dig them up. It's a miracle that all my foxtail lilies survive the winter as the guy who sold them to me said they like good drainage! 😕

I think it would be worse here if it weren't for being near the top of a bit of as hill. When I moved here, I feared waterlogging with the clay soil, but so far it's been not so bad, nor has the frost. Just a few hundred yards away downhill, in a frost pocket it is much worse!😕
Maybe the answer could be raised beds?
