I'm hoping to buy some horticulture grit over the next few months, as the sand is settling, voids are being made in the surface. @kyleleonard . I recently bought some succulent seeds but have yet to sow them. Any tips? How long did it take for these to grow?

@susanryderpaget - this is after maybe 6 months. They grow very slow apparently. I bought some more seeds which I'll show in the next few weeks to add to this next year. I used a potting mix of cacti/succulent compost, bought a bag of it off eBay for around £6. I would recommend sowing them in compost but covered, i use one of those trays which you can put a lid over with the vent, only a few quid for the pair.

Thanks Kyle, I keep putting off sowing them as they seem pretty complicated , but I'll definitely give them a go soon 😊

Judging by @jamesshobbs cacti seedlings, they won't change much in the next year sadly @stephent may have to put a few shop bought ones in to fill it next year

When I put my #cacti #cactus seedlings in a new pot, I like to make sure they're a fingers width in space apart from one another to make sure they have enough growing room (as seen in the photo..) 🌵

Potting up my survivors - using a cacti/succulent sandy mixture. They'll be put in a propagator now to try and keep them nice and warm. I have 6 which are growing well, these are placed in the two pots of 3 cacti, the ones I'm not too confident about are in their own pot, think there's about 6 in that pot 🌵 some of them are starting to show colour now, one has a slight redness to it now. I'll keep them updated over the next year or so!

Hello @hazec - think I sowed them in May. Some died when my parents went on holiday. I'll post an updated photo tomorrow. Hoping to get at least one from them 🙏🏻

Thanks you lol have you ever tried to grow succulents from leaves or cuttings?? Was hoping to give it a go with Eco club but I've never done it before? Have seeds arriving but they won't be big enough to do anything with this year I'm sure. 🤔

Seeds can take years to look anything like the ones we can buy in shops which I never knew until the slow cooker lid garden which were sown about February/March and they're under half an inch tall... I've never done leaf cuttings but I did receive a Dwarf Jade cutting off someone and it took them quite a few months to root it ready to send me (also in my plant list) @Spudicus

I've taken a few cuttings from my own jade plant last week but as you say takes time! Was hoping to do something in time for Christmas with the kids and had thought how exciting for them to see things grow from just leaves lol maybe for summer sale though hehehe

Just tiny amount of watering damping off is the biggest killer misting might be an option but not unless they need it .@Kyleleonard
