Im feeling a little accomplished! - - 9 months ago I asked my GT friends for their thoughts on growing a Lemon tree... I had great advice from @jacaranda, @gauravsh6 and @MW1811 ... Thanks friends, I took the plunge, bought a young established tree, and after some careful nurturing it is now flowering and (hopefully) setting fruit. Today i have moved it from against a warm red brick wall to the greenhouse, to encourage the flowers to open and then pollinate them myself.

How wonderful! This was a first plant from my sister after we moved in. It has given is over 25 years of fruit. You will enjoy very much. Do not be disheartened, however, if your tree drops somenor all of it's flowers this first year. This is very common, but hard to watch. Be happy, though, to know you are on the way to happiness. ❤️

Thanks @MW1811 you were very encouraging and it was your words that persuaded me to have a go. And @lovestogarden ... that is amazing! I think these early years are quite a challenge. I did lose lots of the Orange blossom flowers (see my next post) but still have a few 🍊 set.

Oh, good. I did not get an Orange for a long time, but it is a case.of #anticipation. ❤️ Definitely worth the wait.

Well done Liz! It’s a great achievement and I wish you and your Lemon tree every success. I’m sure you’ll both go from strength to strength 👍😘 🍋 @liz123

Thx @jacaranda ... hahaha... it’s a love affair!

I am sure you are going to love the Sweetness of the Lemons once you have them 😊

So my dear GT friends...... this is a plea for your advice and experience sharing. I would love to grow a Lemon Tree.... I would like to buy a good but young potted tree and then nurture it. I have a South facing red brick wall for summer months and then could move it into the garage/greenhouse in winter. I’m a complete novice on this one so your advice and experiences would be sooo useful and appreciated. Thx in advance.

No idea, Liz, but I applaud your enthusiasm! Good luck @liz123

Maybe Matthew @MW1811 can help? Check out his latest post, Liz @liz123

@jacaranda ..... thanks for the encouragement and for pointing me in the r get direction. Appreciated .. 😊

@jacaranda .... where in West Sussex are you gardening?

I live in a small hamlet called Ifold, Liz, not far from Horsham @liz123

@jacaranda ... our daughter and family are in Cuckfield.

@jacaranda ... Hayward’s Heath region

Lemons are easy to grow if you have good 2-4 hrs of direct Sun. You can still get a Potted plant and nurture it in a garage or greenhouse over winters for some growth under grow lights. Once Winters are over, you can take them out and give a organic fertilizer feed. Suggest you start with a 16 inch Diameter pot so that plant would have space to expand

@gauravsh6 , @MW1811 .... thank you both for your advice. I will keep you posted....

Small world, Liz. Our son and family live in Burgess Hill. Where are you @liz123
