It looks like a really big bloom. We have two but Franks afraid to give them to much sun. Is yours in full sun or part sun? I love em I guess I’ll just buy one and show him they like alittle more sun than what their getting 🤗😊💕

@terrimclaughlin that is a fun question because when I first planted this 20+- years ago as a cutting from my mother's, I put it in this spot which was soon covered by a neighbor's fastgrowing tree. I had a perfect shade area but my 🐦 of Paradise did not do anything. Push ahead 15 years and the neighbor's tree falls over, my shade is gone, all the plants die from sunburn, except the 🐦 of Paradise. It actually thrives and blooms for the first time in forever. The moral is they love sun! ❤️

Their so nice and healthy I have to and neither one of mine bloomed this year. I’m here in San Antonio but it’s zone 10 hoe long were urs in the sun. We had such a hot summer but I’m guessing it was lack of sun. Do urs bloom every year??

@terrimclaughlin this plant was planted here about 20 years ago. After it was planted, neighbor's trees grew and it was in the shade for 90% of the time. It grew very slowly and did not bloom until the tree that covered it fell over about two years ago now. Now it blooms multiple times every year. Now it gets almost full sun.

This Bird of Paradise plant is at least 15 years old. This is its third blooming. My neighbor's giant ficus tree fell three years ago. This is the only one who was glad.
