Berberis darwinii (Darwin's Barberry). Photographed yesterday, 21 May 2017, at Reedie Cottage Garden, East Scotland. I think I've only pruned this Berberis about 4 times since it was planted! It is currently about 9ft tall × 7ft wide as a result!!! It has been covered in masses of bright orange flowers for a good few months, and later in the year, will be covered by blue-black berries (which the birds glut themselves on!!!). Good for hedging because it's evergreen, and the foliage is so spiky!!!
