Chaenomeles x superba 'Crimson and Gold' (Ornamental Quince). Photographed yesterday, 21 May 2017, at Reedie Cottage Garden, East Scotland. Lovely shrub/small tree, that is covered in bright red flowers with yellow centres from March-May, before the dark glossy leaves appear. It produces small, aromatic, greenish-yellow fruits. Despite this being an ornamental quince, you can eat the fruits, once cooked! #chaenomeles #brightred #ornamental #quince #reediecottagegarden
