It's about 6ft tall, but I have no idea if it's a camellia or a rhododendron or how to tell the difference.

It looks like a camellia flower. ππΌ

How can you tell it's a camellia @richard.spicer.7906? I tried to Google it but haven't found the answer yet.

Rhododendron and azalea flowers look very different, and the leaves are a different shape - a bloom is usually made up of lots of individual flowers - and same with the leaves, the best way to describe them is they look like leafy fingers ππΌ. Camellia is single flower, and single leaves. I'm sure there is a more scientific way to describe, and I was never good at plant science π. Try looking at other pics here on Gardentags for comparison. Click this hashtag #camellia

I'll tag you separately in a rhododendron picture to compare ππΌ

Thanks for your help Rich. Much appreciated π @richard.spicer.7906

No probs. Now, if you had asked about the difference between a Rhododendron and an Azalea, that's a whole other story that we can save for another day π
This weather has given my camelia longer to think about flowering. Its done really well this year.
Amazing...
