@latebloomer thank you for you very kind words. He absolutely was the best Dad I could ever have. I chose this rose because as a kid we had them growing in our garden and it reminds me of those happy times.

I have done something similar. I've recently planted red roses for my family members affected by the First World War. The Gallipoli Centenary rose for my great uncle, the Spirit rose for my grandfather who was badly wounded but survived, black Madonna ready to plant for my grandmother who lost her sister, mother and first husband in 1914- 1916 England and France. All Australians.
