The monarch butterfly population is getting extremely low here in New Zealand due to a big rise in wasps, so we have been encouraged to grow "swan plants" to encourage the monarch butterflies, and to try and do our bit for nature, last year I bought two at the local plant shop and they seem to be doing well, starting to get seed pods so I'll be sure to plant more. #monarchbutterfly #doyourbitfornature #seedpods #whiteflowers #milkweed #st3ph-mygarden 🌱#nobutterflyemojiwtf 😳🤔

The numbers must be diminishing in Australia too. Don't see many around but lots of wasps. I have never heard of Swan plants. Are they an annual or perennial ?

@debbiegillan their other name is milk weed but in NZ we call them Swan plants, they are a perennial and they produce large seed pods which have hundreds of seeds in them, so I've been told 😃
