They don't look like much right now but I have high hopes for these little guys...
The first lot of these didn't do too well but I'm hoping the improved drainage will help. #lily-of-the-valley
Very black soil. Usually a good sign 👍
Oh, it's fertile enough on top, everything grows when the weather's good! Unfortunately about a foot down it turns to clay, so the drainage is shocking, we're improving it a bit at a time 😊 @jeatacake
If it's the heavy claggy stuff underneath, then you'll need it, especially with the rainfall there. The clay soil here is a bit loamy & rarely gets waterlogged. If it does, it's usually temporary after a heavy downpour.
Yeah, I'm talking hard grey stuff you could make pots out of! Did you see the picture of our moat? 🤣
