Here’s an update on my banana tree. You can see how the deep red leaves will open up one at a time revealing a small group of bananas. There’s two sets of bananas above the red leaf. The light brownish little things are teeny bananas. Hope that made sense?!😊💕
Here you are @jeatacake👍🏻🤗😊💕
Thanks Terri 😊👍Interesting. I wonder how long it will take before they're big enough to eat?🍌
Wow!💘😍
@jeatacake. It takes about 3 months give or take. It seems like they grow pretty fast!! Of course they love the sun, there’s a lot of sun here!!😃👍🏻😊💕
@ShelleySnyder Thxs I cant wait 🤗😊💕
@jamescalli Thank you! How’s everything in beautiful Ireland?! 😊💕
Very welcome Terri!💘😍
@gjones Thank you I was thinking the samething its really growing good! 😊💕
It did! That is so interesting to see.
That's great Terri! Those red 'leaves' are the flower though.
@novicegardenlover. Thxs so what’s the process. The red leafs when it’s while stars making the little bananas???? I noticed on the tips of the bananas is s tiny white thing 🤔🤔😊💕

Just looked at my bananas and noticed that every couple days one of those reddish leaves open and under each one is 3 baby bananas one just opened today. The other ones are getting big!😊💕
Oh wow will they be edible Terri? 🍌🍌
@Keely Yes!, I got lucky. These a “Musa banana trees so yes these are edible. I had bananas 2 yrs ago in another group of banana trees I have but these look like their going to b a lot bigger. It’s only been a week tomorrow that this first leaf opened🤗😊💕
Oh wow! I've had bananas right off the tree and they are the best!! Lucky you!💘😍
That's amazing Terri Lucky you 😃
@ShelleySnyder Thanks Shelley. It is exciting......just to watch how fast they grow. The problem is their about 10 ft. up🤣😂😊💕
@alan1111 Thxs Alan I might just have to bake a banana cream pie and invite everyone over!!😃🤗😊💕
Welcome! 😳😂😂💘😍
Definitely worth a celebration 🎉🎊🎆
@ShelleySnyder. I’ll let you know when I grab one for breakfast!! Last bananas I was at my moms when they were ripe. I think I’ll be here for these 😊💕
Nice! 💖
@lovestogarden. Thank you. Still haven’t got to use those banana leaves but I’ll let you know!!🤗😊💕

These guys are loving all the sunshine 🤗😊💕
@ShelleySnyder Thanks Shelley. Maybe I’ll get bananas this year😂😄😊💕
Maybe you will!💘😍
@columbiariver Now that’s a good idea. I’ll keep you posted 🤣😂🥰😊💕
How pretty! Do you ever use the leaves in cooking? Well, wrapping?
@lovestogarden it’s funny you should mention that!! Years ago my sister-in-law (@ that time) was from Puerto Rico and she made a dish with spicy beef wrapped in banana leaves cooked on the stove in alittle oil. I’d totally forgotten until you just mentioned it!! Thxs sooo much. I’m going to google some recipes tomorrow Maybe I should try and call her😂👍🏻🤗. Do you know any recipes???🤗🤗😊💕
@gjones Thxs Their doing good. I love the tropical look (down in this hot city!) These aren’t quite as big as some last year but if I’d water them they’d grow more. But I’ll take em like this👍🏻👍🏻😊💕
Great to see & I so wish we could grow them like that here so easily 👍😍
😂 yummy. I have made something way back when, but was not good enough to keep making. I recently had Dim Sum and saw one wrapped in a leaf. Your leaves just look so perfect. Most leaves I see they are rather wind ripped. Let me know how your dish turns out. 💗
@bluefox23 Thank you. I looked back to see when I got bananas I wasn’t quite sure, it was in 2017......hoping I get some this summer @lovestogarden reminded me about dishes made that are wrapped in banana leaves!!!😊💕
@jeatacake. We are all like that!! Seeing plants and flowers that just couldn’t grow in our backyard and unfortunately the banana tree would get to big for your greenhouse 🤭😄☺️😊💕
@gorgeousgarden Thank you very much. Love the tropical look of banana trees!!🤗😊💕

Banana trees still getting in the last few days of sunshine 😊💕
No banana’s this year😪😪😊💕
Huge trees. Hope you get fruit next year.
@novicegardenlover yeah it’s cool to c banana growing on them. A woman told me it kinda goes mother to daughter etc. and she said get rid of a lot of the baby trees and keep the daughter and 😊granddaughter 😊 this, I guess is how u get bananas!! If anyone has any other tips I’d b glad to hear them but it makes since not to keep to many so a lot of energy goes into one of em giving bananas lol🤗🤗🤗😊💕
Sorry I can't help
My mother says they don't separate them for them to bloom and fruit, but she doesn't know about your climate. She says feeding them may help.
@novicegardenlover. Thxs for checking I did find it hard to understand how a tree could pass on another producing she’s probably right they could use fresh soil/ compost, I’ll check plus whatever they need to eat. I do like them they grow great here we had them all across the back of the hour it was to much. They do love water and the more the happier they seem to b. Thxs my good friend your very helpful 👍🏻🤗😘😊💕

Help me identify this plant
My bananas are growing but this is a different type than I had a few years ago. Oh well I still like having them
#plantID-banana
Oh wow awesome bananas
An update on my bananas. You can see the little beige strips, each is a teeny banana. There was about “5” more teeny bananas but the heat here is terrible. I’m thinking that might b why they keep falling off. There’s another group to the right under the red leaf😩😊💕
Hi Terri sorry to hear that it hasn't cooled down a bit and your banana is dropping fruit. I don't know much about bananas but maybe it's too dry and needs a drink 😊💕
@alan1111. I wish it was a drink. I do a slow long trickle so it gets a deep soak. I read that once the temperature gets to 100F they’ll stop growing. Well they’ll be next year🤗🤗😊💕. The wasps are loving the sweet nectar!
