Amazingly I think a few loquats may ripen. All the other branches are still flowering #gyo

These look more like quince to me . I don't know Loquat ! Is it the same as quince? I have a quince tree , fruit is a bit more bobbly(good word) looking than this picture, but leaves look the same ! Help #tggrx.

@junebensted no it's different from quince. The leaves are much bigger and rougher and the fruit smaller than on a quince. Also the flowers are very different. Loquats rarely fruit in the UK as they flower in Autumn and ripen their fruits over winter. They are more common in Mediterranean climates.

I think I saw some trees in france last week with these fruit on them . More rounded though looked like apples from a distance . We didn't know what they were. We thought they were persimmon or something similar but I think now they may have been Loquats ! Thank you #tggrx

@junebensted no, though they are sometimes called Japanese Medlars which has led to confusion between the two.
