Harold also has another fully formed pitcher. I think it's too late in the season for the other growing pitchers to fully firm before his hibernation phase... #pitcherplant #nepenthes
Is this plant easy to care for
I reeeeeeeeeally want one of the funky cool BA plants🤗😲
@blasome eeehhh, I'm pretty hands off. You can have them as an indoor plant but it depends on how cool you keep your house. They do best in Temps in the 70s/80s & they really like humidity so you would have to figure out how to make it humid enough for the plant (they don't like being misted/sprayed) either. You would have to put some sort of plate with rocks & water under it...
@blasome I live in zone 7 so I keep it outside under my tree. The only time I had issues was when the Temps got over 90F. He dropped his pitchers & didnt make more til the Temps dropped back down to the 80s
@uaskigyrl good morning thank you for responding back. I think I'm in Tennessee but I think I better leave this baby alone
@uaskigyrl good morning thank you for responding back. I'm in Tennessee but I think I better leave this baby alone. I have always admired there beauty. I've seen them in local nurseries here but I've never took one home. I'll just enjoy looking at your plant. Lol...

This is the first night bringing Harold inside as it's supposed to get down to 48 tonight. I'll put him back outside in the morning. #nepenthes #pitcherplant
I like these plants
I need a Harold in my life 🙃
Wow that's fab 😮

A new fully formed pitcher! #nepenthes
Wow , I'd love a go at these , are they hard to grow Jessica 🤔🤔
@juliesgarden I think it will really depend on what zone you live in. I'm in zone 7 in MD, USA. Todd is in SC, USA. We noticed that our plants wouldn't make pitchers in the middle of summer cuz it was too hot. Although, we live in zones that are humid enough
@juliesgarden they can be house plants but they prefer Temps in the 70s & they like LOTS of humidity. Some people put their plants over plates of water with river rocks so they get enough humidity. They also only take distilled or rain water
@juliesgarden I've been pretty hands of with mine but then again I live in a warm, humid environment
LOVE IT ! I have never seen anything like it Ga.

The first pitcher has opened up. Now the flaps at the top will start to curl down & redden. #pitcherplant #nepenthes
@uaskigyrl ive always wanted one. Are they hard to raise?
@blueheart I think it will really depend on what zone you live in. I'm in zone 7 in MD. Todd is in SC. We noticed that our plants wouldn't make pitchers in the middle of summer cuz it was too hot. Although, we live in zones that are humid enough
@blueheart it needs dappled sun or screened light & lots of humidity. If you live in a drier climate or colder climate it may be more difficult.
@uaskigyrl sounds like I might not be a good candidate. I thought it was a houseplant.
@blueheart it can be, you just have to be sure it gets some humidity

@toddbrandino hey Todd, maybe it's been too hot? All things have stayed the same on my end EXCEPT weather. Harold started making pitchers as soon as the temp dropped by 15-20 degrees 😃 #macro #nepenthes #pitcherplant
So cute. I totally want one, but I have a checkered past with houseplants.😂
@uaskigyrl my pitchers just now started to get a tiny bit bigger

Harold is really stretching! I hope all those pitchers actually make it to bloom before the long winter siesta! #nepenthes #pitcherplant
Do they hibernate?
@lovestogarden yes! Once the temp reaches before 50F at night I'll bring him in overnight & put him outside during the day. Once the temp reaches 50F during the day, I'll bring him in & keep him in the basement, watering only once a month or so. Pitcher plants need a dormant time or they will die from exhaustion.
Wow. I did not that. Thank you for the information. Very interesting to learn about plants I have never grown. So dormant time lasts how long?
@lovestogarden i think in their natural habitat it's around 3 months. In MD, it'll be a bit longer. I've been coming up with a plan for this winter...hopefully it works!
Thank you for the information. Yes, keep us posted on the outcome. ☺

I'm still learning how to care for my #nepenthes & I think most of the pitchers dry out before they can form but this morning I found this guy! He's so cute! Good job, Harold!
@uaskigyrl i love it! Id like to have a venus fly trap too. 💙
Nice to see Harold is still doing well 😀
Seriously funky cool plants😍

@toddbrandino this is what I did. I felt like he wasn't getting enough humidity so I attached a plate under him & fill it with water. It seems to be working :)
I may do the same with mine and see how it goes
Do you spray it regularly with water?
@brightcolours i do not. I water it about every other day with distilled water & fill the water dish...but that is a good idea
@joeman no, lol, no birds come in my back because of my dogs! They don't even come for the seed!
@brightcolours i bought a spray bottle today to spray the Harolds down!
Yay!! #spraybottle #humidity

Harold is growing a new #pitcher ! #pitcherplant #nepenthes
Those are seriously SUPER FUNKY COOL plants😍
Keep us updated on his progress!
Where do you have yours sitting? Mine is in a partially shady spot but when i bought it it dropped all its pitcher now it has leaves with what appear to be pitchers on the tips but they havent swollen up yet lol just a waiting game i guess
Mines in full shade & seems happy but a lot of his pitchers dried up too. I added an extra source of water under him for more humidity & he's doing much better. I can upload a pic when I get home.
@toddbrandino
@toddbrandino apparently it can take 2 to 3 months to form pitchers...
@toddbrandino i actually had to move mine from his original spot cuz he was in a spot that had a little bit of sunlight but some of his top leaves got sunburned...so now he gets no direct sunlight at all
Unfortunately i dont have a spot like that just partial shade the leaves dont burn and its producing huge leaves the pitchers just arent getting big yet

Wow, sure looks like Harold is enjoying his new home!

So cool to see how much Harold likes his new spot! He's really perked up since I brought him home :) #pitcherplant #nepenthe
Wow! Fantastic!
Wait, shouldn't the name be Audrey II (or maybe III)?😉
It's starting to get below 50 on a consistent basis now but Harold isn't quite ready for "dormancy", which is typically December & January. I added a hook for him in a corner of my room that I think he'll really like.
Oh Harold is fabulous, I'm sure he's very grateful 👍😊
I need a Harold in my life😆😉
