I find that the previous years hyacinths aren’t nearly so full when they’re moved to the garden but just look at the colour on this #hyacinth
The colours are stunning 💙💜💙 love the black stem too 😋
Mine don't come up full flowered either and this is the second year I've had them. They were given to me the previous year and I think she bought a bag of them. Yours is a spectacular blue!
Most of mine are the same Val, I’m going to try lifting them this year and see if that makes any difference 🤔
Yep I find the same Val ..💙💙💙
I don't remember if it was Monty or Alan Titchmarsh but one of them said forced hyacinths never fully regenerate because the process of forcing bulbs takes a lot out of them. I'd imagine they also don't get the conditions they need to build up the energy because a lot of these bulbs naturally come from hot and dry countries like Iran and Syria. @valjones-hughes @lesliecole49 @juliesgarden
Makes sense Urzula. They don’t compare to the bulbs that grow naturally here. I remember Monty saying to treat tulips as annuals to get the best from them . @ublaszko I don’t worry too much about the hyacinths they are still a lovely pop of spring colour!
I bought some prepared hyacinths bulbs a few years ago but I planted them straight in the garden (I didn't know back then they're meant for forcing) and they are huge every year. I treat tulips as annuals as well although last year I bought some botanical tulips which are supposed to be better at naturalising. I'm waiting to see if they will flower this year.
Amazing colour
Wow that's a very striking blue!! I love it 😊😊💙💙

I love them but they make me sneeze so I have mine in the garden 💗💗💗
I like the in the house but these are outside on the steps in front of the kitchen window so I can see them all the time. @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom @pelly
