Opuntia Subulata

Help me identify this plant please? I brought it mainly for the beautiful hand made pot but the plant looks amazing too!

Can't help with identification but love the pot.

could it be tillandsia bulbosa? that’s my best guess 🤔

@lissoms It does look a lot like that but it's like a succulent texture strange 😋

It looks like a fat Austrocylindropuntia to me. Fatter than I have ever seen. Is there any sign of thorns? @Yollymac @Muzz67 @lesliecole49 ?

@lovestogarden I just googled it and some of the pics look nearly identical minus the thorns on the under side, this is all soft and smooth no thorns ?

@lovestogarden looks like the subulata variation (eves needle / pin cactus) but still no thorns

Humm. Interesting. Is it new to you? Could the thorns have been removed?

@lovestogarden that's the only conclusion I could come up with too, must have been de-thorned before I had it maybe
