@lovestogarden - do temperatures ever get close to freezing where you are? It may be too warm.
Well, we have frost sometimes, but too much usually. I might just have to put it in the freezer for these colors. 😉
Can't wait for mine to change colour for winter. It's always a pretty plant but it's definitely at its best during the colder months.
@Soph1e - I agree. It is still under cover but next year I am going to leave it out in the elements to see just how colourful I can get it to go. 😍

@ecoami - following your question, Compactum has short, pointy leaves with purple tips and that characteristic pattern on the leaves. Every single one has that without fail but the purple tips can come and go with conditions and seasons.
