Blackcurrants ripening for picking! Though it seems a good guess, experience has taught me that the way you tell these are ripe is not by when they go black, and pulling them as soon as they turn black can give you unpleasant tasting fruit. i jave found the telltale signs of ripeness are when the fruit go soft and when the stem holding the fruit turns brown & dark. Be quick to harvest as aside from birds, the fruit is at risk of falling or quickly shrivelling on the plant. #tips

@kathy It bursts into bloom at this time every year, always 1st out of the 2 plants I have. Right now it is covered in blooms while my other 1 is still opening buds & rubbing the sleep from it's eyes. 😁😁
