Pistia Stratiotes
Water Lettuce
Water Lettuce has thick, soft leaves that form a rosette. It floats on the surface of the water, its roots hanging submersed beneath floating leaves. These leaves are light green, with parallel veins, wavy margins and are covered in short hairs which form basket-like structures which trap air bubbles. The flowers are dioecious, and are hidden in the middle of the plant amongst the leaves.

Placing on pond
From Late Spring TO Early Summer
Can be placed in an outside pond with a minimum depth of 15cm during the summer, then kept in an indoor aquarium when the temperatures start to drop. In tropical regions, it can be invasive, but in cooler climates, the lower temperatures and colder winters prevent it from becoming a nuisance.
