Yes we have most of them outside always just move a couple u Dee the car port when frost or really heavy rain and high winds are forcast@sharonhayden

@sharonhayden Hi sorry for the delay in answering we check everyday for water; bugs and fungal diseases. Trim excess growth when needed trim roots 2 to 5 years depending on growth. The crabapple is 30 years old so it is long term care and enjoyment. Useful reading Bonsai for beginners by Craig Coussins and Create Your Own Bonsai By Ken Norman this book gives step by step projects. You might find them on EBay. Hope this helps and enjoy , never worry if you cut the wrong bit they do grow back😁
