12 Aug 18 • Advice please all you #succulent lovers on this rainy #succulentsunday Firstly what is this? I was given it as an aloe 🤔 And what shall I do with it? The top half is very healthy but the bottom half isn’t. It got covered in sooty mould when it was sat under a plant infested with sap producing scale insects 😡 #plantid Thank you 😊
It looks like aloe striatula but I could be wrong. Can you wipe off the sooty mould with a sponge and water
Thanks Julie. I’ve just been reading about them. Apparently they can be hardy in the UK 🧐 I’ve never even put mine outdoors 😂 Sadly I got as much off as I could at the time... @vec
Mine is planted in the garden, I bought it as a hardy plant earlier this year so I'm hoping it is 🙂
I’m sure it will be where you are Julie. Cumbria is a different matter... It’s not that we get very cold but it’s the combination with very wet that’s the problem 😕 @vec
We get the very cold especially in my frost pocket, not so much the rain normally. Mine is in a sheltered patch beside the raised bed so I'm keeping my fingers crossed 🤞
I think if I were to plant mine outside it would have to have it’s very own raised bed made of grit and sand and I’d probably still need to cover it 😉😂 I might remove the lower leaves and pot it up though 🤔 @vec
😂😂😂
8 Feb 2019 • You win some, you lose some. Maybe not so hardy after all. I knew I should have got round to chopping the top off and repotting it...
Oh no 😪
Don’t panic! I think it’s just relaxing! 👍🏼😉
Oops the base might be OK!! 🤞
Hopefully it will be ok 🤔🤔
It’s so relaxed it’s almost horizontal 🤘@rachelbrooks
That’s what I was thinking Carol... 🤔
Tbh Jane, I won’t shed too many tears if it isn’t 😬 @pelly
Chilled! Haha! Quite figuratively!!
Very! @rachelbrooks
