I totally underappreciate this guy, but he's probably got the prettiest flowers of all my Chamaelobivias. My camera doesn't even pick up the colors that well, but they range from super hot pink to ultra orange.
Oh! @sunlovin sorry, I forgot to say that this is an older photo. This was mid-May 2019. My Chamaelobivias only bloom in the spring, although I've had a few echinopsis and echinocereus bloom in the late summer or early fall. Mammillaria usually bloom pretty reliably through the fall as well, but I don't think I've seen a single flower on any of them this year. Maybe bc of the lack of monsoon season? 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’ve been fertilizing mine because of the lack of rain and they’ve been responding well. But now I’m stopping because the weather is getting cooler. My Devils Tongue flowers all winter and it has buds! 🌞
@sunlovin I've totally been slacking on fertilizing everything. 😬 I messed my back up really badly in midsummer and I fell really behind on doing a lot of plant care bc I haven't been able to move freely or bend over. My poor plants have been suffering for it! 😭
Oh, Sorry to hear that. I only started to fertilize because I had to bring my Mini Roses back to life. So I just fertilized everything with the Rose food. I would give the other plants a shot of it once a week. In Spring I will start to fertilize again. I want the plants to be strong cause they have to fend for themselves.
@sunlovin I saw you mentioned to somebody else that you used rose food for everything. It wouldn't have occurred to me to do so, but I don't see why one shouldn't. 🤔 The NPK levels may not be IDEAL for everything, but I also can't imagine anything reacting especially negatively. Nutrients are nutrients! 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'll get on top of fertilizing my winter growers, and then I'm DEFINITELY going to make an effort to be on top of it in the spring. ✊😤

What a stunning flower
I didn’t think they would bloom again in fall. 🤔 I think mine has tiny buds. Maybe it’s not warm enough here for them to flower. 🌞
