My bonsai is not looking healthy. I keep it out of direct sun and water weekly. Any advice? #plantadvice #help 😩

I have a great Bonsai book my brother bought me a few years ago called " The handbook of bonsai" by Craig Coussins. May I suggest you purchase this book, whilst I haven't read it all it is very useful as it does both outside and indoor bonsai. I think you maybe over watering the bonsai and it can't cope with absorbing that much water so the roots are rotting?! I did that to mine. I killed it with too much love, so the next one I killed with neglect! Good job I have no children or pets really 😂

Thanks for your advice @halfpintlinda that’s really helpful. I’ll have a look for that book and I’ll stop watering it! Ha!

@berecs I could be wrong, it coukd be something else? But that's what happened to me. But I think the positioning needs to spot on for them especially indoors. Bonsai can be expensive especially if you buy a cultivated one from the garden centres, they aren't cheap even the small ones. Good luck 🍀 Let me know how you go, perhaps someone on here can give better #bonsai #advice #help 😁

It certainly could be @halfpintlinda ! I got it as a housewarming present so I didn’t actually buy it. I’ve moved it to another room (again). Maybe it shouldn’t even be in a window?! #clueless

@berecs aaahh you moved it! 😃 Is the atmostphere/tempreture different to the other room? Apparently putting them in a widow doesn't always help either. Maybe take it back to where it was (if it looked good) water it once a week for now. If you break a branch is it still green inside? There could be hope if it is 😁 But I'm no expert I've learbt by killing things slowly 😂

Stick your finger in the soil to see how wet/dry it is. Which will help determine if you’re over/under-watering.
