When we moved to our new home in Essex we inherited lots of lovely plants especially roses. I love gardening and nature.

Oh no what is the matter with my poor little Acer? Any advice would be appreciated.

They do get sun and wind burn, do you have it in a shady sheltered spot?

It gets early morning sun but is in shade for the rest of the day - I may have to reposition it thank you for the advice @sadieberg

Early morning sun is the harshest as the plants may have frost and morning dew still on the leaves when they are hit by the sun. Afternoon sun means the plant has had time to warm up before the sun hits it.

I've lost a couple of small ones this year, mine I think were due to lack of drainage in small pots but windburn and sunburn are common causes

All but one of mine has suffered similarly. Most likely sun and wind damage. Sadly, one in particular looks in poor shape - mostly aesthetic - and there's nothing that can be done about it now 🤷
