Acer Palmatum 'Atropurpureum'

Love my potted #Acer. A pretty #weed colonised the pot when i Had the tree as a little whip 3 years ago, and I always let it blanket out any other weeds.

My client had this in a full sun, exposed position. It was struggling with leaf scorch so I've moved it to here to recover. Not sure if it's a bit too dry for the long term. #help #problem #acer #japanesesmaple

Thanks @pauline33 do you think it may be a bit too dry or shaded? It's a very thick canopy above.

I wouldn't plant too near the big tree add lots of compost to the planting hole to feed it and as long as you keep it well watered till it gets established it'll be fine as you've found out they don't like an exposed position I've got one under a huge fir tree and I feel the colour is even more intense but it doesn't get a chance to show off the same 👌😉

Fab, thanks for your advice @pauline33 . My client doesn't have the time to garden and I can't be there enough to water it adequately. I'm thinking of digging the pot in.

Doing that your restricting the roots ability to find its own water 😉 it's got more chance to survive doing as I suggested water well mulch the top n if next year you see it struggling move it then 🤓
