This cactus is 4ft tall and you have to stand above it to get it all in the picture, with some detail to see close #succulentsunday it shares its pot with some #ogre-ears

@sunlovin and @dadayba this is my big one and it’s many years old and the smallest one is a little more than a year old. It shares its pot with ogre ears I use to water it a lot but the ogre ears didn’t like that so I only water it once a week in the heat and once a month in the cold

Do the tips turn red for you in the fall? Mine was about 5 years old, 2’ tall and 1’ wide. I have a small piece I put in the garden in Vegas. It gets no water so grows slowly. I remember seeing one in Vegas that was a huge shrub 6’ tall, and I don’t want it to become that big! I remember seeing huge hedges of them in California, unbelievable!😳 @dadayba

@sunlovin they have never turned red, only yellow when they’re about to fall off. I’ve seen the red on small ones it the nursery and wondered if it was a subspecies @dadayba

I take that back about the hedges. I’m thinking about firesticks which grow even faster. My Eve’s needle was about 1-1/2 ft tall, and the tips turned red in the fall. Same info on it in my Vegas garden. 🤭 @sasisof

@sunlovin yes it turns red in late fall and winter. Ya I don’t want mine to get that big either (hedge size big)
