My front garden is over run with horsetail and I have been told it is extremely difficult to get rid of. I was told to use diesel on it but nothing else would grow in my garden afterwards. I wanted to plant in my garden but am now considering black plastic sheeting and raised beds. Has anyone had horsetail and successfully beaten the problem? Any advice would be greatfully received.

Welcome Emily 😄 I don't have horsetail grass but when I moved into the house I live in now it was riddled with Ivy! It was up and over every fence panel, the garage, up and in the trees and all over the unkempt boarders themselves. It took a lot of hard work pulling it all down and digging up as much root as possible. I used SBK 'weed' killer on the roots/stems that were over an inch in dia I made holes and filled them with it. Three years on I still find it coming up but I just dig it out as b
It is pretty much the same thing Hellebore. We moved into our house on October last year and due to the weather conditions we haven't done a great deal yet. I have many plans but I need to get rid of the horsetail first. Susiwoo and bigemrg have found the answer for me. It's called Kurtail, it is expensive but it will be worth it just to be rid of it.

Best I can. I'm guessing you may have to do the same!
I have them everywhere and hate them as the roots go so deep
