I was really successful growing this up north, but am having incredible trouble establishing it here. I love #lemonbalm tea, so could use #advice if anyone has it #herbgardening is new for me in #zone9b I’ve tried this in a big pot, but I know it has long roots, so also trying in ground. It’s still struggling. Eastern exposure, reasonable water, prune back 1/3 when I see new growth. It’s just leggy and small. 😞
I did container gardening this year and had tons of #lemonbalm in an egg crate (lined) and also had some in 5 gallon buckets. I left them in full sun and just made sure to water every time it dried out. I harvested three times from each bushel. I’m in zone 5b. I’m growing #tangerinebalm as well. It did get a tad leggy because I brought it indoors and it doesn’t get as much sun as it did outside. @fearlessthereforepowerful
Yes! I found it at my local nursery. The lady that owns it has a ton of great plants, jams, and honey. She recommended this one for teas. @fearlessthereforepowerful if I’m ever successful in getting it to seed I’ll send you some. I just need to find a better spot with more light. The leaves are wee bitty little things right now.
I have it growing in my flower bed, made the mistake of not keeping it contained, and it's growing everywhere, I don't really mind, it smells wonderful and I love to make tea, it's a win win 😃 I have no secrets..it just grows very well for me. I planted it and it took off. @fearlessthereforpowerful I have lemon balm and spearmint growing together, makes yummy tea 🍵
