Anyone know how to tell when garlic is ready to harvest? I have no clue what I'm doing. #garlic-advice

Could you pull one?

@lesliecole49 I know they are probably not ready yet. This is about two weeks after planting some bulbs.

They need to grow for about 8 months after which they have grown large enough and the tops start to go brown. Don't fertilise too much otherwise you get too much top growth at the expense of the bulb and they need to be further apart to allow room for the growing bulb. Happy gardening 😊

@nej Thank you! I figured they may need to be further apart. These had sprouted in my kitchen so I planted them. I was planning on getting bigger pots in the spring time! Do you think it would be safe to pull these and replant them?

If you are careful not to damage the roots and slowly move from shade to sun over a week they should be fine hopefully 😊
