@mellybobs I have a tree fern out in my garden all year round here in Preston Lancs and it's doing ok it's in a corner near a fence and all I do is put a net if straw in the crown in winter but I know some that wrap trunk in fleece but I believe they will withstand cold to about -5c with no protection
