Wax off now after almost 3 months of flowers. Bulb a bit soggy and sorry for itself 😢. Have sprinkled rooting powder on it and stuck it in a pot to take its chances for recovery 🙄
🤞🏼🤞🏼
Good luck! 🌱🌱
Hope it works🤙🏻

3rd and final bloom from the waxed bulb 😍Having to prop it up now as top heavy - bulb just about exhausted - weighs nothing 😢
I'm happy it lasted this long. Maybe they came up with this idea for people who would dispose the bulbs after Christmas anyway. Sad though.
@novicegardenlover I agree very sad - have great difficulty throwing anything away Susan - one of life’s hoarders - I blame it on being a post war baby 😄
I understand. I'm a mini hoarder too. 😂

The waxed one! Four flowers from 1st bud still another bud to open - if it has enough strength left !! #amaryllis
Amazing
@gjones you don’t water it which makes me wonder if it will survive long enough for second bud to open! I

Waxed bulb - no pot 😳 #amaryllis #hippeastrum
It almost looks like a pot in itself doesn’t it?
Wow 😮
Good morning Christine @grandmagizzy that’s Amazing & Gorgeous as well 😍😘
Incredible
Thanks for the updated photo.
I read the link ⬆ @cyndi, I hope the bulb can be saved afterwards and give you beautiful blooms and leaves for many years @grandmagizzy

Present just before Christmas. Needs no water and not in a pot 😳
Is the bulb covered in wax🤔
@kathy yes it is 😊
So the bulb has no roots?
@novicegardenlover @gjones @kathy Hi folks it’s the first I’ve seen no roots visible. It’s opened up this morning I’ll put another pic on 😍
I’ve heard of these before, think they are designed for a ‘one time show’ only unfortunately - which I guess is fine if that’s all you want. My tutor at college did an experiment on one to try and get the wax off, quite difficult but she managed to get a couple of roots to form so it may survive another year.
Thanks for the info Rich @richard.spicer.7906 It was a gift so had no idea what to expect. May try de-waxing when it’s done 👍🏼
The poor shrivelled up bulb that was covered in wax is alive😍 ( see previous pics)
Just saw your previous posts, Ive never see a wax covered bulb ! You saved it ! Congrats on new growth after all its been through ! So exciting 💖
@bblondie Hi Amanda I’m amazed the bulb has no substance to it just a papery shell - I’ll be surprised if it does much. I’d put it in the garage when I took the wax off and put it in the garden a couple of weeks ago in the sunshine!! The pot was full of water yesterday when I returned from a weekend away - it was when I tipped the water out I spotted life 😱😍
Wow weird ! Its probably so relieved, what a great surprise to come home to ! One time I was given two succulents that were covered in a thick coat of red spray paint for xmas. They didn't do well at all grew all warped and weird ended up dying. I wish companies cared more and took into consideration that they're living things, anyways though i can't wait to see its progress now that it's free 🕊
Wow! Excellent to see it's trying to live 😊
Yay!!
