Just loving the #autumn hue our lovely Acer has now, such a contrast the the bright cherry red she has in spring and early summer 💚😀

Looks really healthy do you trim acers I've got 3 baby ones but not sure if I just leave them to grow naturally or trim them each year?

@keely I did in the spring for the first time as it had grown out of shape. We've had this one well over 8 years and it certainly did the trick! 😀

Taken 3 years ago, before we did the garden and patio. Our #acer grew very tall and lost her leaves very early in the season. Next pic will be how she looks now, after I pruned her quite hard early spring this year

@Jasonsparkes1 sheltered position, if in a pot plenty of water daily during growing season. We had a few mishaps with ours in the early days, leaves dying after just appearing etc, but we persevered! 😀

@Jasonsparkes1 of course it is! They will tell you if they don't like the position. Nothing ventured! 😀

I've got two in pots. They are living but not thriving. Bought them about a year ago. Should I just be patient? Only about 2ft and 3ft tall. Yours is lovely 😀

@susanhumphrey333 hi Sue, make sure the pot is at least 3 times the rootball size (you may need to transplant again). Ours was only 2ft when we bought it and it's in the pot we bought at the same time, yes, it looked a bit lost then!! Ours is now about 12 years old. So yes, patients is key as is tlc. But you will be rewarded 😀👌

Thanks for the info. They are both in pots that look in proportion to their size so they're not big enough. Will definitely repot and try to be patient too 😀
