Autumn is coming 🍁🍂🍁 #sumac #rhus #cut-leaf-stags-horn-sumac #rhus-dissecta
We hate to see our gardens change to Autumn, but, there are some pretty awesome plants and trees with color😃such as your photo👍
Beautiful autumn colours 🍂🍂
Bitter sweet isn't it!💘😍
Lovely photo Kerry
@crabby58 @hkyfvr @ShelleySnyder @sharonhayden thank you ladies 😁 it’s sad to see in one way, knowing all the summer flowers will be gone soon 😥 but the colours in autumn are so beautiful you can’t be too sad 😛
Exactly!💘😍
Very welcome. Autumn is lovely with all its colours. The bugs and pests will be gone soon and being outdoors will be beautiful. 🍂🍁🍁🧡💛❤️🤎
@hkyfvr you’ve just said the best thing to look forward to - the bugs & pests being gone! They’ve been baaaaad this year 😜
So bad. They chewed on everything. 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Starting to put on its best show 👍 Talking of bugs, I've never had so many bites in the garden as this year 😟
@hkyfvr 😰 the frosts better wipe them out this winter!!! 😅

Gonna have flowers for the first time 😍😍😍 #sumac #rhus #cut-leaf-stags-horn-sumac #rhus-dissecta
Did you know that the berries are used to produce spice? We love sumac 😍😍 It's great on salads.
@ublaszko I’ve heard of it but never tried it, to my knowledge. Don’t think this year I’ll have enough to season a radish 😂
🤣🤣🤣 It's used in Turkish cuisine but we put it on most salads as it adds a hint of lemon. Great with Greek salads.
@ublaszko oh a citrus spice sounds lovely 😋 might have to try some

Starting to colour up beautifully 🍂
Wonderful small trees, almost all year round 👍
@cyndi that is a shame! They’re great looking trees, especially this time of year 😍
@lovemygarden65 never seen a tree with colour so vibrant! The red is so intense! 🍂🍁
@columbiariver I agree 😛 hoping for some first-time flowers & fruits next year 🙏🏻
@jeatacake fantastic aren’t they 😍 not sure it’s suited to a pot though. Doesn’t seem to be growing very much 😜
@gjones thanks Katy 😀 the red is so intense but doesn’t show as well in this photo. Could stare at this tree all day 😍😅
They can be very invasive, throwing up suckers all over the place, so a pot will at least stop that 😏
@jeatacake I was reading about them yesterday and was shocked they’re so invasive! Never had one sucker yet but hope for a couple so I can get free trees 😂 did notice my yellow magnolia keeps throwing up baby plants from the base though and wondered if they’d be worth growing on 🤔
It may depend on whether it's been grafted or not. You can usually tell from the leaves on the suckers. If different, then it'll have been grafted. If the same leaves, well worth try 👍
@jeatacake you know so much! Thanks Jeff 😛 I’ll go have a check, that’s if there’s any leaves left. Not many of my trees know it’s not winter just yet! 🙄

These are something special
@alan1111 they really are! This is still so tiny though. Don’t get the feeling they grow very fast 😂
No their not the fastest

Another beautiful choice Kerry
@jeatacake like little alien hands 😅 they move so fast once they get growing 😜
@alan1111 thanks Alan 😁 love the colours it turns in autumn 🍂
I have sumac in my spice rack 😆😆😆
It's one of the best for autumn colour 😍
Very similar to peonies 👽
@ublaszko 😆 that’s how to keep a tree in a small space 😉😂
@jeatacake yesss! They’re fascinating things to watch emerge too 😛

@lesliecole49 they really are 🧡
@lovemygarden65 I can see why you love yours so much Marilyn 😍
@cyndi they don’t survive in your area?
@gjones they remind me of ferns a little. And the leaves are so intricate 😍 looking forward to it flowering eventually 😛
@jeatacake thank you Jeff ☺️
@cyndi failure isn’t something you do in your garden 😛 I’m sure if you had seed again you’d try until you got a result 😁
@cyndi because you show what you can do with seeds and cuttings every day! Far more patience and perseverance than most 😛

@jeatacake thanks Jeff 😁 it’s done well so far 😛
@ukjohnny I’ve not had it long enough to see the autumn foliage but can’t wait! The colours look incredible 😍
@richard.spicer.7906 the leaves really are wonderful, very exotic looking and so intricate up close. Also the furry bark is lovely 😛 hope yours continues to thrive 😁

Cataloging - lacinata (cutleaf staghorn)
Good idea you're growing all your plants in pots. This one sends out so mamy suckers! They're the bane of my dad's spring tidy up as he planted some opposite my family home in an empty piece of land and now every year he has to control so they can still enjoy other shrubs in that space.
@ublaszko I had no idea it was so invasive. The corkscrew hazel seems to grow a new sucker every week so guess I just cut them down like with that. I bet it looks amazing when it’s in bloom though! Your dad has good taste. I got this because my nan used to have one in her garden years ago 😁
😁😁 And it looks great in autumn when it goes red. It looks fantastic with an underplanting of creeping navelwort which is what I've been admiring at the university this week. I thought my rose was bad with suckers but it only got 2 or 3 last year 😁😁😁
@ublaszko I can’t wait to see it turn red 😍 never think to under plant most things 😜 will have to give it some thought. And I’m now in love with creeping navalwort 🤣 the suckers from roses, can they not be used as cuttings?
