Morning everyone. My #aeonium-zwartkop looking very shiny in the sun yesterday after a short shower 🖤 #upclose #succulentsunday
Morning Jane. Looking really good 👋😯👌
It’s looking really healthy and raring to go🖤
Thanks ladies. I’m sure it’s bulking out earlier than usual 🤔 @flof1952 @Auricula
Gorgeous 🖤🖤
Thanks Julie 🖤😘 @juliesgarden
It looks really healthy
How lovely…looks very rich 🖤
Looking healthy
Thanks Joan, Angela and Jason. It’s recovered well from the winter 🖤 @joannie.a @italydiva @hebelover
Just beautiful Jane 😍
Thanks very much Shona 🖤 @sho47

Morning everyone. One of the two new rosettes on my #aeonium-zwartkop is growing much faster than the other one, in fact the smaller one doesn’t appear to be growing at all 🤔🖤 #succulentsunday
Morning Jane … ooo I love these 🖤
Perhaps all the strength is going into the bigger one🤔 Lovely colour, btw morning Jane😂
As long as it hangs on there’s always hope Jane 🤞🤞
I love these. Did some cuttings for MIL as she lost hers last winter. I lost mine the winter before but managed to take a cutting, so I’m learning from experience!
Me too Julie. I'm hoping the other rosette grows though 🤔🖤 @juliesgarden
Afternoon Elise. I was wondering the same, maybe the little one will grow in the spring 🤞🖤 @Auricula
Exactly my thinking Joan 🤞🤔 @joanboston
That's what I'm trying to do, it's a steep learning curve with these though 🙄😂 @CatW
🤞🏻
They're tricky aren't they? I too have a small cutting clinging to life after the main plant rotted 🤞
They certainly are Sue. I hope your cutting survives 🤞 @churchfarmgarden

Morning everyone. One of the two new rosettes on my #aeonium-simsiixzwartkop is growing slightly faster than the other one even though they are both still tiny. I’ve been trying to find some more info about them other than what I already know and found this article fitted the bill particularly about the root system. I don’t know if it will help anyone else but I found it interesting 🤔 https://surrealsucculents.co.uk/welcome-to-the-wonderful-world-of-aeoniums/ #succulentsunday 🖤
Morning Jane, a really informative article. I was gifted an Aeonium, grown from a cutting, for my last birthday and worried about it ever since! This dropping leaves habit thoroughly confounded me, remains to be seen if it’s still with me for my next birthday😂
Morning Elise. The dropping leaves bother me every year, I don’t know why as I should be used to it now. I know it’s going to recover 🙄😂 @au
Thanks for the article Jane, I bought a young Zwartkop from Beth Chatto's garden a couple of years ago but sad to say it's not doing at all well. I'm determined to keep it alive if I can, it doesn't seem to make any root system so that article is helpful. I had more success growing some mixed Aeoniums from seed, they're slow growing but doing OK 🌱
Morning Jane.. well now I know what NOT to do , I might just have to give them another go 👍🏻
You're welcome Sue, I really don't find them easy either. Mine are in pots that to me seem to be the right size but are obviously not so I'm going to get a couple of new ones to give the roots more space to develop and see if that helps 🤔. I've never even thought about growing from seed, I'd definitely like to give that a go so thank you to you too 🥰 @churchfarmgarden
Morning Julie, go for it 👍 @juliesgarden
That’s very interesting, thankyou Jane. I’ve never seen flowers on mine though ( or any other?) I’ve chopped lots of mine down and potted five in a large pot 🤞 will take a photo when I get up 😂
Morning Jane, good to see some new rosettes. I’ve always been attracted to aeoniums but have never actually had one…yet!
Morning Jane. Of all the succulents I grow Aeoniums are my favourites. I have about 10.
I might go and take a photo of my seed grown ones Jane, they're not very exciting at the moment but hey, early days 😂
Morning Jane, interesting article, and their shop...😍...which also did confirm mine is Schwarzkopf, began to wonder as it looks a lot different to other people's on here

Morning everyone, have a great #succulentsunday. I was going to bring my #aeonium-zwartkop In yesterday but on checking the forecast we have some milder nights coming so they can stay out a bit longer 🖤
Morning Jane🙋♀️. Perhaps I ought to put mine back out if the wind’s dropped🤷♀️
Morning Jane 🖤🖤
Morning Elise. It’s difficult to know what to do for the best, especially knowing how sad they will look as they drop their leaves through winter 🤔 @Auricula
Morning Jane…so pleased we’re having some milder nights. The longer the better as far as I’m concerned 🙂 @pelly
Morning Julie 🖤👋 @juliesgarden
Morning Angela, me too 👍👋 @italydiva
Think I'm gonna be doing the hokey-cokey with the houseplants too 😂
Good morning Jane they always look good🤗
Morning Enid, mine does in the summer but not so good in the winter unfortunately 😢 @godfreye
Woman down the road keeps hers in her open porch all year round and it doesn’t seem to bother it ….
I've tried everything and nothing seems to work 🤔 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

Update on new #aeonuim-zwartkop florettes. Still tiny but definitely growing 🖤 #succulentsunday
Oooo exciting.
Look healthy!
So lovely to it growing from such a small bud☺️
Thanks Charlotte, I think so 🥰 @charlotte
Oh it is but it's so painfully slow Elise 🙄😂 @Auricula
Thanks Joan, I'm really happy with it so far 😍 @joanboston
I am sure you will be a good mum to your babies
I hope so 👍 @joannie.a

You can see the new rosettes forming on my #aeonium-zwartkop just below where I cut the branch off. I'm over the moon with its progress 🖤 #succulentsunday
I see it and that's incredible! 👏👏👏👏👏💘😍
Thanks Shelley, I'm terrified of knocking them off though 😱 @ShelleySnyder
@pelly thanks Jane it does look good, but l really need to get out there and feed them.we have had so much rain in Birmingham, lm not looking forward to the heatwave we are suppose to be getting though. 😭♥️
Very welcome! Don't get to close till they get bigger! 🤣💘😍
You’ve done really well☺️
Thanks very much Elise 🙏 @Auricula
I won't 😂 @ShelleySnyder
🤣🤣💘😍
Yay 👏🏻👏🏻
Any tips on looking after these? I was gifted some and they don't seem to have thrived with me
Looking very good Jane. 👍😍

Morning everyone, have a super #succulentsunday. My #aeonium-zwartkop has only ever had two branches with one rosette on each so I cut off one branch (which I repotted) and the original plant now has new growth, the one you can see and there’s another one on the other side. I’m so happy that my leap of faith appears to have worked 🖤
Morning Jane, that's fantastic 😀 I got mine off Dad, and it's very similar, 2 branches, with a few rosettes on each, got a good sunny, sheltered spot outside, not sure what else to do for it?
Morning Jane.. woohoo well done 👏🏻
Morning Jason, thanks. I’m definitely not the right person to give advice on these 🙄😂 It looks shocking in the winter wherever I put it and when it goes out it goes on the patio wall and gets watered occasionally. That’s it, that’s the entire care package 👍 @hebelover
Same here!!😂😂 I bring it in...all the leaves fall off, I put it outside...all the leaves fall off 😁
Morning Julie, thank you. I felt like a murderer chopping it up 😳😂 @juliesgarden
😂😂
Not the same then. Mine thrives in summer and convinces me that it'll be ok in winter and then wham. You know the rest 🤣 @hebelover
My friend gave me a cutting off one of hers, devastated when the leaves fell off until I Googled and found out that’s what happens😅 Currently it’s outside and I have my fingers crossed 🤞🏻 Your surgical skills paid off Jane☺️. @hebelover
Morning Jane 👋 I’ve always liked these. So glad it’s taken well to your pruning. Looks very promising 😀
I know what you mean Elise, you think you've done something wrong 😳 until it goes outside when it makes a miraculous recovery 😍 @Auricula
Morning Angela. It's early days but I'm very happy with its progress so far 🤞 @italydiva

Morning everyone. My aeonium zwartkop has only ever had two florets so I read up on how to make it branch and tried something I read on the RHS website https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/rosemoor/rosemoor-blogs/rosemoor/november-2015/care-of-aeoniums and it appears to be working. Eventually the new floret should form a branch and grow away 🤞. Have a super Sunday #aeonium-zwartkop #indoorplant #succulentsunday
Morning Jane .. love these , must get another 🖤
Morning Jane 👋
Morning Jane, fortune favours the brave 🤞🏻
Morning Julie, they're lovely and yes you must 👍 @juliesgarden
Morning Jeremy 👋 @jpea
Morning Elise, I hope so 🤞🤔 @Auricula
Good morning Jane mine not doing very well🤗
Morning Enid, oh dear, they're fussy plants in my opinion. I hope yours recovers 🤞 @godfreye
The one Dad gave me had been kept outside too long, and the leaves were falling off, they've all fell off now, and I'm left with 5 bare sticks, gonna have to do some research, it looks awful!!
You might be able to propagate some new ones from it. https://www.jackwallington.com/how-to-make-an-aeonium-arboreum-branch/ this was another of the articles I found 🤔👍 @hebelover
Interesting...

Hi everyone, had a peep outside and the garden is very sparkly this morning. Stay warm and safe ❄️ #succulentsunday #aeonium-zwartkop
Morning Jane .. very hard frost this morning but a beautiful sunrise 🌅
Morning Julie, yes a hard frost here too but no sunrise to be seen, there’s a blanket of cloud over us 🙋♀️❄️☁️ @juliesgarden
Morning Jane ☕ Love these
Morning again Jason, me too and it's doing better than normal this winter 👍
Looking great! 😃😍
Thanks Ange, it usually looks awful by now 🙏 @anges
Morning Jane 🙋 I've got icicles dangling from the ach, what more can I say 😊
Morning Jane. We've had at least an inch of snow ....eased up a bit but the sky is full of it! Take care 👋🙂
Morning Jeremy, there’s not a lot more to be said 🥶❄️🥶 @jpea

#succulentsunday This has really grown well this year but every winter it loses most of its leaves. How do those of you who have one overwinter yours please? 🤔🖤 #aeonium-simsii-zwartkop
Can’t help on this one Jane, but it looks very happy and healthy 😊
Thanks Angela, it's been a star this year 😍 @italydiva
Mine lose leaves all year round really. I think it’s fairly normal but 🤔 not sure. I keep mine in the conservatory over winter. It’s cold but not freezing. Rarely water it, and the colour gets really dark. It’s well over two feet tall and about five years old. Hope that helps Jane
I keep mine in the summerhouse and losing the leaves is what they do I think. It looks healthy enough 😃
Thanks Joan, my house is too warm for it but I’m hoping to heat the greenhouse this winter so I’ll try it in there. It seems much stronger this year so hopefully it will cope better 🤞 @joanboston
Yes, it's definitely much healthier than its been for ages, thanks Ange 😍 @anges

Morning Jane 😊👋 You too!
Good morning Jane🤗
Thanks Pam 😍 @tiger123
Afternoon Jason, every winter I think I've lost it but it bounces back again 😍 @hebelover
Afternoon Angela, thank you 🙏 @italydiva
Hi Katy, it's doing well thank you 😆 @gjones

Happy #succulentsunday everyone 🙋♀️ #aeonium #aeonium-simsiixzwartkop
Very healthy!
At the moment, I struggle with it over winter as my house is too warm so I've taken it to my mum's , her landing is cool, so I'm hoping that will do the trick @awomanonabike 🤔😄
I’m sure it will. Mine always lose some lower leaves over winter but it doesn’t seem to do them any harm and they soon recover 🤞
Morning Jane ... that’s fabulous 🖤🖤
It recovers well when it goes out again after the frosts have gone but it loses nearly all its leaves here, so yes, fingers crossed @awomanonabike 🤞🤞
Morning Julie, thank you @juliesgarden 🖤😍
Morning Jane.....a neighbour has one on her open porch all year round and it’s massive (I might sneak a photo sometime)
Wow, she's brave and yes, you must get a photo Elaine @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom 📷👍
Love the change of color on this one 😍 have a great day Jane 💚💚
Me too Rula and thanks, you too @sabbanrula 😄😄
I love the color of these, almost makes me want one but they die quickly in my house. 😥

Taken just before nightfall yesterday. 😊😊
Looking good! 🖤💚🖤
Think I shall have to get one of these next year...
It lost a few leaves to start with but it seems to have settled now. It's in the greenhouse for the winter and seems to be quite happy there Jacqueline, thanks. @awomanonabike 👍👍
It was a gift from Jacqueline @awomanonabike when we met a few weeks ago and visited her wonderful garden Rach @rachelbrooks 😊😊
Thanks Laura ⬆⬆⬆ @columbiariver 😊😊
Gorgeous color...looks like chocolate. 😋
I have two and have put one in the greenhouse and one in our house to see which does better. Was discussing this with Sam @icedance who has a gorgeous one. Mine have lost some lower leaves too, they always do.
I'll have to make some more Rachel... @rachelbrooks
I did have this in the house but when the heating came on I thought it might be a bit too warm for it. I'll keep an eye on it and bring it back in if it gets too cold @awomanonabike 🤔🤔
Aww that’s a lovely gift 😍 lucky you, visiting Jacqueline and her garden! 💚
Do they ‘sprout’ easily Jacqueline? @awomanonabike

Morning everyone and what a miserable foggy one it is. This is the newest floret on my #aeonium-zwartkop If you swipe back two pictures you will see how small it was a year ago 🖤 #succulentsunday
Looks great now, just got to get ot through the winter
Morning again Jane .. I love these 🖤
Such bold colors! Eileen would say it's #totallygoth @emch
